Jar Clusia

Pikaplant Jar is a living houseplant that you never need to water. The plants are sealed airtight inside an upside-down Mason jar. All of the water inside a Jar's ecosphere remains inside, and the plants continuously recycle the water and air that they have. All you have to do is give your self-sustaining plants a nice place to live, and enjoy the view.

Pikaplant Jar is our interpretation of a bottle garden or closed terrarium. We select each seedling by hand, and before we enclose the plants in a Jar we give them the resources they need to create a well-balanced ecosystem.

The lifespan of individual plants will vary, but we offer a 3-month guarantee on every Jar ecosphere. The original Pikaplant Jar prototypes have been flourishing happily for over 60 months without opening.

Clusia rosea is a tropical plant indigenous to the islands of the Caribbean. In nature the Clusia rosea grows on rocks or other trees, where it sends out aerial roots that wrap around the host tree. These roots eventually thicken and can even kill the host. The Clusia rosea in these terrariums can also produce these aerial roots.

Don’t worry though, the glass of the Jar will protect any nearby houseplants from strangulation so you are safe to enjoy the Clusia’s otherworldly beauty.
